This summer was really important to me. I have a hard time putting it all in words. This summer felt like the last bit of life as we knew it. Quinn wrapped up kindergarten and Eleanor was going to school half a day for preschool during the second semester. This summer it was the three of them back together, just as they should be.

New baby comes in less than a month so this summer felt like the time to squeeze in all the fun we could. The best part of the summer, by far, was watching them bond. It was amazing to see how much they had all grown individually and then came together to grow as family. Their love for each other is so big and it just makes my mom heart explode.

Hudson became a playmate to Quinn and Eleanor. It was incredibly fun to watch them play, get lost in their imaginations, explore and snuggle.

Typically we make a summer to-do list. This year we kind of worked in reverse, compiling a list of summer memories instead of checking them off.

We had lots of trips to the zoo and logged many hours at various parks. We had plenty of couch lounging, TV watching, building, crafting, imaginative play, sprinkler & kiddie pool time, and backyard shenanigans right here at home.

We did some summer oldies like feeding the giraffes and birds, canoeing, parades and festivals.

We added a few new ones too. We tried a new lake. It was calm, shallow and the water was warm. The kids loved it! Quinn even mastered floating on his back. We also visited the replicas of the Nina and the Pinta. We welcomed a new cousin to the world. A great warm-up for the new baby joining our family this October.

We visited the lighthouse. Quinn and Ross climbed to the top! The other kids will when they are old enough.

Hudson was probably the most fun to watch with new experiences this summer, because as a two year old, everything was new and very exciting experience for him. I also love that Quinn and Eleanor still have their sense of wonder and their spark. I hope they never lose that. Everything is an adventure with my crew. They bring the fun to whatever we are doing.

Summer is officially over and it is fall. We have transitioned nicely back into the school year. Eleanor started ballet and soccer. After going to her brother’s things, she is so excited it is finally her turn. She loves both and I love the way she glows and is so confident when she is off doing her thing. Quinn graduated from recreational soccer to pre-academy and practices twice a week now. Quinn thinks first grade is awesome and it makes me so happy to see him so happy and comfortable at school. Hudson is off having adventures with me in the morning and demanding Eleanor plays with him in the afternoon.
The craziest thing is, next summer–there will be four of them!
