I snapped these pictures forever ago. Since then I’ve decorated for fall by adding a pumpkin on the end table and a new pillow. Neither of which are pictured, but if you close your eyes and imagine real hard it will be just like all those beautiful fall house tours you see in blog land.
The TV moved, but the Instagram frame stayed. The credenza with the basket of toys for the kids underneath moved from the dining room to the living room. The globes from on top of the bookshelf currently live there. Nothing is permanent here.
My house was so stinking clean this Monday and the sun was shining. I was wishing I could run around a snap pictures for the blog, but there was no time for that. For first grade conferences they do a home visit. It just so happens that conferences are scheduled while I will be in the hospital having baby number four so we had ours on Monday.
And now you know why my house was clean. The husband was like, well at least now we are ready for baby. I laughed–like it is going to stay like this for a week!
I was a little nervous about having Quinn’s teachers over and thought it might be a bit awkward, but it was really quite wonderful and now I see why they do it.
It is such a great way for the teachers to connect with the kids. When Quinn’s two teachers were standing in his living room I wish I had my camera out to snap a picture of him, because he was just glowing. He was so excited to show him all the parts of his world that he deems important. Eleanor was equally excited to show off and was jealous her teachers were not coming over and Hudson was sound asleep on the couch through the whole thing.
He loved showing them his room, the books he is reading, his favorite toys and all the tricks he can do on the swing set in the backyard. We also got a chance to chat about Quinn in a real casual environment. All good and wonderful things to say about our sweet boy. We are so proud of him.
So here we are in the final stretch–baby comes Tuesday. These last few weeks have felt like a laundry list of things to squeeze in and it feels good to have those things checked off. Not just checked off, but successfully accomplished. We threw Quinn’s seventh birthday party and he felt so special.
We checked the conference/home visit off. If you follow me on Instagram you know that Quinn played in his first soccer tournament. His team won all three games and it was so fun to watch them this past weekend.
We finally got her room cleaned out. It is a far cry from decorated and we still haven’t sorted through bins to find baby clothes for her, but the room is clean!
Random things I have been wanting to have hung finally got hung while Ross was home on lunch the day of the teacher visits. Nothing like people coming to our house to push my butt to get things done!
Most importantly, after six months of putting it off I finally made time to get my hair cut and dyed it. I told the husband, come Tuesday I might be sliced open, put back together, sore, tired, bleeding and leaking milk, but at least my hair will be cute. The beauty of childbirth! Feels a little bit like the serenity prayer and this I CAN control.
And in case you are wondering, I totally forgot what it is like to have a baby and still cannot believe this is all going down on Tuesday!
